"All of the seven missiles fired by North Korea early Wednesday local time — six short-range variants of the Soviet-era Scud and one long-range rocket — fell into the Sea of Japan.
The long-range missile, the Taepodong-2, failed about 40 seconds after it was fired, U.S. officials said. Some analysts believe the Taepodong-2 is capable of hitting the western United States." ~CNN
We now know that Korea is getting desparate for some attention. Why else would you fire a slew of missiles for "test fire" purposes on the Fourth of July?
I guess we should be glad for now, that they can’t get any missiles out of their own airspace, though had they, there would have been severe consequences. No, for now, the only ones that need worry are the variants of marine life in the Sea of Japan.
It would have been interesting had the T-2 had a nuclear warhead on it. Then, if it had failed, they would be dealijng with their own fallout. Though I don’t want to see that happen, maybe it would finally make them sit down and shut up, rather than try to gain attention through bumbling PR stunts such as this.
A country that can barely support the population and relying heavily on Chinese aid is trying to prove something. Trying to prove that they are still players in a world fo war. They need to prove that they can support themselves before trying to start a war.
If they did manage to start a war with us and the world community, we needn’t bother going over there, just let them fire off a few missiles armed with nuclear warheads and watch the fireworks from China. Staying away from the sea of Japan, of course, unless we needed to save as many sea dwellers as possible before the fallout became to widespread.
